3rd Grade Celebrate Brazilian Culture
Third graders at Columbus Elementary School celebrated Brazilian culture on Fat Tuesday. The day was organized as part of their social studies unit "Communities Around the World." The students took part in activities which reflected the culture of Brazil. Teachers led "workshops" in dance (the samba), the importance of sport in the country (soccer), native plants (flora) and animals (fauna). The students completed tasks at each station before they moved on to the next. It was a fun and engaging way for the students to learn about a different culture.
