The Ben’s Bells Kindness Project is in full swing! Students and staff are going out of their way to spread kindness around the building at Columbus and the positive vibes are having a great impact! Each month one student from each grade and one staff member is nominated for going above and beyond in spreading joy.
While the competition was tough, there were several clear winners in January: Gianna H. in 3rd grade, Patrick L. in 4th grade and Keira B. in 5th grade. Both Patrick and Keira were nominated for always being cooperative with their classmates and Gianna was nominated for quickly jumping in to help a teacher who had fallen and hurt herself. In the staff category, both Mrs. Ketchum and Mrs. Mayer received an equal number of nominations for their regular support and mentoring of new colleagues. Each winner was presented with a special bell to remind them of the positive impact their kindness had on those around them.
The mission of Ben’s Bells is to teach individuals and communities about the positive impacts of intentional kindness and to inspire people to practice kindness as a way of life. According to Ben’s Bells, research demonstrates that kindness benefits a person’s physical and mental health, and that recognizing kindness in others increases a person’s happiness and satisfaction.
