Despite several delays due to wintery weather, the 4th grade band students finally had an opportunity to show off their musical talents on Tuesday March 13. More than 80 students, led by music teachers Michael Hood and Barbara Schultz, gathered in the Columbus Elementary School gymnasium to play a 40 minute show. Each instrument group performed several songs individually to give the 3rd graders in the audience an idea of the different sounds each instrument makes. The 3rd graders were reminded that they will have the chance to choose their instrument at the end of the year and were encouraged to listen carefully to which ones appealed most to them. At the end of the demonstration, the entire band played together. After many months of lessons and practice, the cohesive sounds of the entire 4th grade band were music to the ears!
